3 Ways to Get Motivated for Your At-Home Workouts
Getting motivated for at-home workouts can be tough! There is no question that it can be hard to take the first step without the motivation of a gym or community. At home, the only person that is going to put in the effort is YOU. If you are looking for a few tips and tricks, here are three easy steps to help get motivated and create consistency for your at-home workouts.
1. Set Your Intention Each Week
Set time each week to write down your goals, your plan and your intensions. I know it can feel cheesy, BUT IT WORKS! In fact, you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. Setting your intentions allow you to clarify what you are looking to accomplish and holds you accountable each day.
Add your at-home workouts into your weekly schedule. Not just which days you are working out, but what time and what workout. Get specific with your choices. Try your best to stick to that schedule for at least 21 days.
For the first 21 days, your mind and body are working to form a habit, which makes each workout easier. After that, it’s like brushing your teeth, it’s a must do or you just won’t feel like yourself unless you get in that daily sweat! Plus, you can celebrate and look forward to the time you are taking to do something good for yourself.
2. Get an Accountability Partner
The whole point of an accountability partner is to get someone who encourages you to keep going (especially when you don’t want to).
Better yet, find a friend to actually do each at-home workout with you. Your accountability partner doesn’t have to live with you – just set up a Zoom call!
With an accountability partner, you are committing to more than just your goal. When someone fully commits to your journey, you will unconsciously feel compelled to pay them back. And the best way to pay them back is by consistently showing up. As you often hear in class from Master Coach Kyle – “don’t just do it for you, do it for the person next to you!”
What are good qualities to look for in an accountability partner?
- Trustworthy
- Positive and encouraging
- A reinforcer
- Non-judgmental
- Dependable
When picking an accountability partner, here are a few questions to think about:
- Do they know your strengths and weaknesses?
- Do you talk to them regularly?
- Do they inspire you?
3. Use a Workout Challenge or a Program to Push Yourself
There are tons of at-home workouts that create 14-, 21- and even 30-day challenges to get you off the couch and push you to be stronger, faster and healthier. The best part, most challenges have prizes 😜!
If you are new to at-home workouts, a challenge or program is the best way to build a habit. The hardest part about getting motivated is not knowing where to start. With a challenge or program, you are given instruction and encouragement every step of the way!
There is no better time to start than right now! BoxUnion is launching their Better Together Challenge on October 1st!
Get signed up today. Take as many classes as you can in October and win prizes! It’s that simple!
Here’s the thing… There is no better feeling than writing down your goal, working towards it and achieving it. Achieving a goal is the best motivation for anyone. Write down small and big goals, but make sure the big goals have milestones or checkpoints to celebrate the journey. Once your goals are written down find someone who will nudge you along the way.
These are tips for any type of goal, but if making workouts a habit and living a healthier lifestyle is one of those goals, use a challenge like #BetterTogether to get you started. We all need a little push now then, here’s yours!
